If someone had told me a year ago I’d be starting a food blog, or any blog at all for that matter, I would not have believed them. Never much understood the things to be honest. However, about a year ago, my husband and I quit smoking, which indirectly led me here.
Looking for something to keep my mind off wanting to smoke, I dove into Pinterest and discovered food blogs. A whole new world of food variety opened up! Everyone knows you tend to put on a little weight when you quit. Nobody told me learning how to cook better would make that worse… One by one my jeans stopped fitting. Then we bought a scale. Ouch! It was time for a change.
I don’t believe in diets. I think of them as a temporary denial of what you’d rather be eating to drop weight, then you put it all back on once you get where you want to be, because you stop eating right. We didn’t want to do that, so we started looking at calories and arranging meals around nutrition content (which is kind of like playing Tetris. 🙂 ) Eating better doesn’t have to mean you can’t eat the things you love, you just have to eat them smart. I’ve become an expert at tweaking recipes to fit my families tastes and healthier lifestyle. This blog is the new and improved versions of old favorites, and new recipes that I find and change to make work for us now. I hope your family will love them as much as mine does.
As you can see, photography is not my strong suit. I figure I’ll get better as I go though. Might even manage a picture of me at some point. 🙂
